The Bowling
Green-Warren Co. Chapter of the AARP was organized in the fall of
1967. The first
organizational meeting took place in the Castner Knott Community Room at
the Mall on the The 1974
Certificate-of-Incorporation (non-stock, non-profit) was delivered
to the Secretary-of-State, Commonwealth of KY Dec. 16, 1974. The chapter
President is responsible for appointing committees that serve the
community and our chapter. Each committee (Membership, Legislative,
Public Relation, Program, Service, etc.) is staffed with qualified
members who carry out the various duties of the chapter. AARP’s Motto To Serve, Not to be Served -- enhance the
quality of life for older persons -- promote
independence, dignity and purpose for older persons. -- lead in
determining the roll and place of older persons in society -- improve the image
of aging. AARP National
Membership is open to any individual 50 years or older who is interested
in the goals and objectives of the national association. AARP members are
entitled to a broad range of benefits and services including: Subscription to
Modern Maturity magazine and News Bulletins Free Booklets on
Retirement-Related Subjects Education Programs
and Services Free Income Tax
Counseling Non-Profit Mail and
Pharmacy Services Eligibility for Group Health Insurance Hotel, Motel, and
Rental Car Discounts A Motoring Plan
especially designed and priced for members In addition to
National Membership, members of local AARP chapters enjoy many
educational and social activities. AARP Chapters provide
opportunities for volunteerism and community involvement. The Bowling
Green-Warren Co. Chapter meets the 3rd Friday of each month
at 11:30 AM. Guests are always welcome.

Chair, in the 1980’s was active in fostering a bill in In 2000, state AARP Representative Belcher presented a plaque to our Chapter for services rendered from 1974 to 1999. In April of 2000,
our chapter held its first meeting at In 2006, chapter
member Collins Vance, a WW2 Veteran, was recognized on the floor of the
KY House and Senate. Mr.
Collins served on the USS Missouri, and
witnessed the signing of the Japanese surrender to General MacArthur
September 2, 1945 in
